I've been approached by Ubisoft in March 2021 to create a CGI announcement trailer for their game For Honor. More specifically, I was tasked to create the story trailer for season 3 of year 5 based around flood and water.

THE CONCEPT

Reflections, Water, and Storm.

 

When presented with the concept, I've fallen in love. The goal was to create a cinematic where we jump between the surface world, flooded by storms, and an imaginary underwater world that is the reflection of the surface.

A LOT OF CHALLENGES

And awesome feedback.

 

Within the 2 months of production, about half has been spent on R&D, where we developed the underwater look, the surface and the character shaders. 

I was working closely with the D.A of the marketing department. He was responsible for the animatic and the camera movements while I developed the look.

We were able to advance quickly due to extremely good feedback from the management and the internal client. In the end, they confessed what we created was their personal favourite of this year.

R&D

Character Development

We went through countless tests on different For Honor Characters, but we knew we wanted the character to look like status made out of differents natural materials.

With tight turnarounds, it was quite a fun and fulfilling challenge. Countless hours have been put into this, and every hour was worth it.
