For Honor Season 4 Story Trailer.
Following the Season 3 Story Trailer, director Pierre-Olivier Nantel at Ubisoft Montreal reached out again to help him develop the upcoming season 4 story trailer for For Honor. This time around we directly started to work on key visual style frames for internal client presentation and focused on the visual and look development of the cinematic trailer.
Again, I also helped to add additional animation in post within the comps created during the styleframing phase. I mainly worked on the transition between each shot and added weather effects.
Concept
The people of Heathmoor were afflicted with rising waters and a devastating storm that flooded the landscape. Thankfully, the storm passed, and though the skies began to clear, a cold winter settled in. The high waters froze, and snow covered the terrain. Ships were stuck in the ice, which only added to the odd serenity that had befallen Heathmoor.
Challenges
With the small timeline we had, Pierre-Olivier and I had to create 4 complete CG environments with one main restriction. Our hero, the boat, had to be mostly hidden due to the main game asset still being in production. We only had access to a low-resolution model, which created some quite interesting and creative challenges.
